The story behind the piece

A Whole Mushroom Cluster, Growing Flush From Your Wall

Mushroom hunters call a burst of new mushrooms a "flush." This piece captures the moment a cluster bursts from the bark, and it's wall art you can set a tea light on.

Mushroom hunters have a word for the moment when, after the right rain, a crop of mushrooms bursts from a log all at once: a flush. One day there's bare bark, and a few days later there's a crowded, overlapping cluster of caps. It's one of the most satisfying sights in the woods. This shelf freezes that moment.

Wall art first, shelf second

Unlike our separate ledges, this piece is a single cluster of oyster mushrooms that sits flush against the wall, like it really grew there. It's designed mainly as decoration, a living-looking sculpture for a bare spot. The top cap gives you a small ledge for something light, like a battery-operated tea light, which casts a warm forest-floor glow.

Two sizes

  • Walnut and redwood: 8 inches wide, 5 inches tall and about 3.5 inches deep, printed in warm wood tones that look like real fungi on a real tree
  • Large flush, pictured in gold: 8 inches wide, 8 inches tall and about 3 inches deep, a dramatic statement piece for an entryway, a mantel wall or above a bed

Both can be printed in custom colors.

Where it shines

  • Above a plant shelf, where it looks like the forest followed your plants home
  • In a hallway or entry, as a conversation piece people stop to touch
  • Over a reading chair, with a tea light on top for the evening
  • In a nursery or kids' room, as woodland decor that won't fade with the trend

Build the full forest

Surround a flush cluster with a few of our little oyster sets, and the wall starts to look like a tree trunk after a good rain.
