The story behind the piece
A Golden Pikachu, Charged Up for Your Shelf
Pokémon #025 has been the face of a franchise for three decades. Ours is printed in shimmering gold, as if you caught a rare one.
When the first Pokémon games came out in Japan in 1996, Pikachu was just one of 151 creatures. It wasn't even the mascot yet. Then the animated series put the little electric mouse on Ash's shoulder, and the rest is history: Pikachu became one of the most recognized characters on Earth.
Why everyone loves Pikachu
It's number 025 in the National Pokédex, an Electric-type that stores electricity in the red pouches on its cheeks and releases it in a burst of sparks when it's upset. The round shape, lightning-bolt tail and big expressive eyes make it look friendly, and in the stories it stubbornly refuses to evolve or stay in its Poké Ball. Those traits made a generation fall in love, and it's still the first Pokémon many kids learn to name.
A gold one, like a rare find
Ours is printed on our 3D printer in shiny gold plastic and stands just over six inches tall. The gold gives it the look of a trophy or a rare collector's piece, and it makes this Pikachu the shiniest thing on the shelf. It's sized to stand out among game boxes, cards and figures without taking over the room.
