Pocket-Size Axolotls for Gamers, Kids and Desks

Some kids met their first axolotl at an aquarium. Many more met one in a video game, where the pink, smiling salamanders swim around underwater caves and follow you around. Either way, the result is the same: they want one. These minis are the easy version.

Tiny, bendy, irresistible

Each mini axolotl is 3D printed in linked segments, so it curls, wiggles and sways when you pick it up. It's small enough to ride in a pocket, perch on a monitor or hide in a lunchbox as a surprise. Choose classic pink or multi-color rainbow prints, where the colors shift down the body.

They're popular as:

• Fidget toys for busy hands during class, homework or long calls
• Party favors: the five-pack covers a small party, or a big one with a few packs
• Desk buddies for gamers' setups and office cubicles
• Stocking stuffers that don't come from a big-box store

Five is better than one

The five-pack is the one parents come back for. Siblings stop arguing over whose is whose, and friends get one each. If you're filling a birthday goody bag, it's the easy answer.

The real thing is even stranger

Real axolotls are salamanders from the canals of Xochimilco, near Mexico City. They keep their baby-like gills their whole lives and can regrow lost limbs. We tell that whole story on our full-size articulated axolotl's page, which is big enough to be a centerpiece.
