Honest Abe, Brushed in Silver

At 6 feet 4 inches, Abraham Lincoln was the tallest president in American history. Add the stovepipe hat and he cleared seven feet, which made him impossible to miss in a crowd. Our bust is a little more modest at 7 inches, but it has the same effect on a shelf.

The man behind the beard

Lincoln was born in a one-room log cabin in Kentucky. He was largely self-taught, read whatever books he could borrow, and became a lawyer, a congressman and finally the 16th president of the United States. He led the country through the Civil War, issued the Emancipation Proclamation and gave the Gettysburg Address, a speech of only about 270 words that most Americans can still quote from.

He also wasn't always bearded. He grew the famous beard only after winning the 1860 election, and the story goes that he did it after an 11-year-old girl named Grace Bedell wrote to suggest that whiskers would improve his looks.
